Red Chile Carne Asada

Flank steak is marinated overnight, grilled to perfection and sliced thin to make this popular Mexican meal.  The combination of olive oil, lime juice, garlic, red chile cooking sauce, and tequila yield a mouthwatering steak.  Also great in tacos or on top of your favorite Mexican-style salad.

Red Chile Carne Asada Flank steak is marinated overnight, grilled to perfection and sliced thin to make this popular Mexican meal. The combination of olive oil, lime juice, garlic, red chile cooking sauce, and tequila yield a mouthwatering steak. Also great in tacos or on top of your favorite Mexican-style salad.

  1. Combine all ingredients except steak in a nonreactive bowl or pan. Add steaks to the marinade, cover and refrigerate for 10-12 hours, turning occasionally.
  2. Fire up your favorite grill and cook steaks, five to ten minutes on each side, to an internal temperature of 130-140 degrees (too much cooking will toughen the meat). Remove steaks from the grill and allow to "rest" for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Slice the meat thinly at a diagonal against the steak's grain and serve.
  4. Make great soft or hard tacos with your choice of corn or flour tortillas!
  5. You can also take the remaining marinade, boil it 5 minutes on a stove top, add a little cornstarch mixed with water to thicken, and serve over the sliced meat.
